Pedagogical Practice Group 2

2. If students are in charge of their own learning, how will we be sure they learn what is important?

  • Give them specific guidelines and guidance along the way, feedback, and opportunities for peer assessment and self-assessment, and ongoing assessments
  • Conferencing about their final product
  • Have students do a reflection journal of what they are learning
  • Show me what you have learned through your preferred multiple intelligence; example- construct it, sing it, draw it, write about it
  • Relate what you have learned to real world problems
  • Show what you have learned through note-taking, graphic organizers, list, charts
  • The teacher identifies the "what" students need to know and let students choose the "how" they learn/show their learning.
